After School Is A Real School

After School does live up to their name as the Son Dambi 5-member group moniker. All five members sport toned abs and sexy butts and are highly confident of their bodies when performing in front of the cameras. But it hasn’t been an easy road achieving them.

Group leader, Ga Hee expressed, “It wasn’t easy to have a body like this. Before our debut, we had to spend 3 – 4 hours in the gym. You can say that we have used sweat and tears to sculpt our bodies. Due to the high frequency of performances lately, we haven’t been to the gym much. Our muscles have gone away and in return, our figures have gone awry.”

Each comes with some background. Ga Hee was a former dancer for BoA, Joo Yeon is an Internet ulzzang, So Young studied dancing in her high school, Kim Jung Ah is a trainee for musicals while Becca came through auditions in Hawaii. The 5 were brought together in 2007 and debuted 1.5 years later with their first mini-album, After School. Their debut single Ah has been really popular thanks to its catchy beat and strong dance chereography.

The concept of After School seems to be taking a leaf from Japan’s Morning Musume where its members graduate (leave the group) at a certain stage. According to their management, Pledis Entertainment, “Technically, this first batch of 5 members will be After School first year students. After them, we will start auditions for 2nd year students and then they will then replace the 1st year students once they have trained sufficiently for their debut.”

So Young further explained, “We are like students currently studying in the school called After School. If there are new students coming in, there will also be graduating students. As long as they (new students) fit the After School image, anyone can become a student for the coming 2nd year. The current first year students have a choice on whether they want to stay as a singer or develop their career instead in the acting or variety field.”

SNSD’s Sooyoung gets injured in a car accident, forced to withdraw from schedules

It’s just been reported that SNSD‘s Sooyoung was involved in a car accident early yesterday morning, but fortunately, she did not receive any serious injuries.

On August 29th, SM Entertainment released a statement that said, “Sooyoung is suffering from a sacrovertebral fracture from the car accident, but thankfully, the injury is nothing serious.”

They continued, “The doctor in charge gave a positive prognosis and said that with plenty of rest and treatment, she will be fully recovered in no time. Sooyoung will be unable to participate in upcoming planned schedules.”

The injury from her car accident means that Sooyoung will not be able to perform at the “SM TOWN LIVE in Tokyo” or at SNSD’s live concert in Taiwan.

According to SM Entertainment, Sooyoung was traveling from Seoul to Chunan at 9 AM on August 28th for her next schedule, when the car on the opposite lane had carelessly crashed into Sooyoung’s car.

SM added, “Sooyoung was on her way to complete her volunteer services for the visually impaired when the accident occurred. The car in the opposite lane crossed the center line and consequently crashed into Sooyoung’s vehicle.”

Sooyoung is currently receiving treatment at a hospital and is recuperating from the accident.

On tvN’s Taxi, KARA ranked girl groups with Lee Young Ja and Gong Hyun Jin. Nicole said, “Yoona has the best no-makeup face.” Jiyoung added, “She usually doesn’t wear makeup but still looks gorgeous.”

Then they picked a girl group member they would want to date if they were boys. Gyuri picked f(x)’s Sulli. Gyuri reasoned, “You can just stare at her and she’s lovable.”

Then they went on to talk about some boy drama. They admitted that they’ve been hit on by guys through phone calls. Gyuri said that if she had a boyfriend, she’d want to go to the beach with him. The rest of the members also revealed their perfect dates.

[Spoiler: We Got Married] What surprise did Seohyun prepare for Yonghwa?

On the March 26th broadcast of MBC’s “We Got Married“, Seohyun and Jung Yonghwa finally looked completely comfortable as a couple in their last broadcast.

The two went back to the bank to withdraw all the funds in their virtual marriage account, which they created a year ago. Thus armed, they prepared to start their final date.

The couple visited the recording studio where they first met about a year ago. In celebration of their last date, the members of CNBLUE came in carrying a cake.

The CNBLUE members created a fun environment by joking around with the two, before they eventually withdrew to leave Seohyun and Yonghwa alone in the studio. Mustering her courage, Seohyun picked up a guitar and surprised Yonghwa by playing the “Banmal Song“, which was the song they wrote together for a previous mission. Originally, Seohyun could only play just one chord throughout the entire song, but this time, she played more expertly all the way through.

Afterwards Seohyun finally spoke to Yonghwa in “banmal” or informal speech, albeit a bit awkwardly and while laughing.

G.NA taken to the emergency room for a knee injury

Singer G.NA was taken to the emergency room for a knee injury.

On March 11th, G.NA fell while heading for the stage of KBS’s “Music Bank“. It’s said that the star had tripped and landed on her knee.

G.NA underwent acupuncture, and returned to the staff despite her staff’s concerns; reportedly, she repeatedly iterated, “I have to complete my schedule.“ Originally, she was set to stand for her performance, but due to the pain in her knee, she sang her song “I Miss You Already” sitting in a chair. Right after the live broadcast, G.NA was immediately taken to the emergency room to receive a complete medical examination.

On March 12th, a Cube Entertainment representative revealed, “Although there is no problems with her bones, she may have pulled a ligament and so we must wait for further details. While she is doing activities for a ballad track, we plan to lessen her movement as much as possible.“ Representatives have further stated that if the injury develops, they plan to adjust her activities.

SNSD’s Yuri injured on the set of Invincible Youth!

Popular girl group SNSD / Girls’ Generation member Yuri was injured on the set of KBS2TV’s “Invincible Youth.”

During the recording on January 27th, Yuri slipped and fell during a kite flying activity, injuring her knee.

SM released a statement through TV Daily saying:

“Yuri was filming when she fell and suffered a minor abrasion on her right knee. The damage is not serious and she should be ready to perform for SNSD’s debut stage on the 30th.”

Ever wondered how celebrity idols live?

One of the most popular girl idols in the K-pop scene, SNSD, revealed their living quarters to the public for the very first time! It turns out that SNSD’s Yuri had to grow bean sprouts as punishment for the show KBS 2TV’s Invincible Youth. As a result, Yuri took a selca of the SNSD house and filmed her challenge in growing bean sprouts. In the footage, she appeared in a beautiful one piece and not in her usual rubber banded pants as a G7 member of Invincible Youth, surprising fans. Additionally, Yuri showed a particular affection for her bean sprouts and referred to it as, “Kongdori,” a pet name for her bean sprout.

SNSD member Sooyoung and Hyoyeon, who were present, watched the bean sprouts grow, but Sooyoung was absolutely baffled. Sunny who was also present said, “All the members helped grow Yuri’s bean sprouts. Yuri would call us and say, ‘Hey are you home? Give the bean sprouts some water. I totally forgot!’” In response, Yuri replied that the hardest part of growing the bean sprouts was watering it every 3 hours.

KBS plans to air “Invincible Youth – Season 2″ this fall

It was revealed on August 25th that KBS is planning to launch season 2 of its popular variety program, “Invincible Youth“, this coming fall.

The PD of the first season, Kim Ho Sang, will reprise his director’s megaphone once again. He revealed, “We are now in the planning stages for season 2 and are aiming for broadcast this coming fall.”

The original concept revolved around idol girl group members and their experience on living and surviving in rural Korea. Season 1 was shot outside of Uchi-ri in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do.

PD Kim added, “Because we are still planning, we are undecided on whether to stay in Uchi-ri or find a new place to film. But it’s most likely we will have new cast members for this second season.”

The first season ended in December of 2010.

Rainbow’s synchronized swimming too sexual?

dol group Rainbow’s synchronized swimming performance is on the chopping blocks again, this time for being too sexual.

On MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics & Swimming Championships”, Rainbow revealed their amazing synchronized swimming performance to their song “A”. It was reported that the members trained for 4 months with a professional just for this performance.

The performance is now being criticized for being overly sexual, as the camera angles inappropriately captured the Rainbow members’ body parts, such as their butts.

Viewers commented, “There were moments of the performance that I just couldn’t watch”, “I didn’t feel comfortable watching the parts where they showed off their butts”, “I can’t believe it was a special performance. It was just too much“, showing off much of their discomfort at viewing the ’sexual’ performance.

The program was already a hot topic even before it was filmed. Viewers were concerned about the idols wearing revealing bathing suits arguing, “I feel uncomfortable at the idea that young girls have to reveal their bodies“. To counter this criticism, the production team decided on a closed filming, but the idea of the championships being too sexual has not been avoided.

Personally, I think the viewers are to blame for making this too big of an issue. If they only focused on the athleticism of the program, they wouldn’t even notice the so-called ’sexualness’ of the swimming championships. Oh well, controversy is always hard to prevent.

Fans impressed with Yoseob’s consideration for fans after tripping incident in Malaysia

B2ST’s Yoseob recently tweeted a message of reassurance to his fans in Malaysia after a recent small tripping incident at the Kuala Lumpur Airport .

On July 24th, B2ST successfully performed at the ‘MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2011′ event at the i-City in Malaysia, where they amazed over 30,000 fans with their hit tracks, “Shock”, “Soom”, “Beautiful”, and “Rainy Days”.

The next day, the boys headed straight to the Kuala Lumpur Airport to catch their flight back to Korea. Amidst the chaotic crowd of fans, however, Yoseob managed to accidentally trip while walking back towards their terminal, causing him to drop all of his luggage onto the floor.

Shortly afterwards, Yoseob tweeted, “Ack! So embarrassing. I was so embarrassed before that I rushed out and didn’t get to say bye. To anyone who fell over from getting pushed, are you okay? I’m sorry.”

“Tripping over at the Malaysia Airport was 100% my fault. I’m more sorry to the fans who were shouting ‘Yoseob, I’m sorry’ to me. Anyway, I’m completely fine, so don’t worry.”

Fans upset over close-ups of Kara’s butts

There is currently a hot issue brewing amongst netizens and fans of Kara, because of a Japanese broadcast.

On the August 6th episode of channel Asahi’s morning show, called Super Morning, they interviewed the girls of Kara who are currently making their entry into the Japanese market.

A reporter from the show described Kara as a popular Korean idol group who’s butt dance moves were very popular, while also saying that the girls received a lot of attention in the past due to famous Japanese comedian Gekidan Hitori who is a fan of Kara. The reporter also revealed that Kara’s debut Japanese single album, Mister, would be released on the 11th.

The reporter also talked about Kara’s success in Japan so far, such as when their tickets for a showcase fanmeeting soldout in five minutes.

What the Kara fans were interested in though, was not the interview itself but the way they shot the show. When the girls were showcasing their butt dance during the interview, camera zoomed in and slow motion effects of the girls’ butts were included.

Furthermore, there was a part during their interview when the camera was focused on the girls’ body, without their heads.

Fans stated opinions such as, “I know Korea and Japan have a different atmosphere in the way they broadcast, but it’s sad to see them focusing on foreign female artist members’ bodies with their camera,” “It’s a broadcast that’s hard to see in Korea. KARA to release their very own fragrance

Girl group KARA will be traveling to France to prepare for the launch of their very own perfume!

Management agency DSP Media stated, “A perfume in their name is planned for a December release, and so KARA will be going to France on August 29th to see to production matters.”

KARA is said to be working directly with perfumers to create their fragrance. The group is under tight time constraints, as their new album ‘STEP‘ is also waiting in the wings to be released early next month.

SNSD’s Jessica transforms into a Bali princess for “Singles”

SNSD’s Jessica was able to briefly escape the cold winter climate for the warmth of Bali, thanks to her photoshoot for “Singles” magazine.

Jessica was draped in a unique mix of vivid colors and expressive prints for the ‘jet set’ look. Although she was technically on the clock, the idol was apparently quite relaxed, and felt like the shoot was a brief getaway from her busy schedules.

She received unending praise from the staff for her island princess image, and drew out a variety of poses that emphasized her slim figure.
